Golden Jubilee Dinner - Dining in Darkness!

Thursday, March 25

Presented by

Omni Fort Worth Hotel

In 2010, Prevent Blindness Texas – Fort Worth Branch will celebrate 50 years of saving sight in Tarrant and 28 surrounding counties. This milestone calls for a special celebration, our Golden Jubilee Dinner, Dining in Darkness!

In February 1960, the Fort Worth Branch of Prevent Blindness Texas (known then as the Texas Society to Prevent Blindness) was established through the grassroots efforts of many dedicated volunteers, most notably the late C. Harold Beasley, M.D., a prominent Fort Worth ophthalmologist, and the late Catherine R. Alexander, a local philanthropist and the wife of Alcon co-founder Robert D. Alexander. Our branch was founded with one mission: to eliminate avoidable blindness.

This gala event promises to be a unique experience for two reasons:
  • We will honor our past by recognizing each of our past People of Vision recipients and their families.
  • You and your dinner companions will have the opportunity to be blindfolded during dinner, and enjoy a meal without the benefit of sight!

By Dining in Darkness, you will experience a wonderful meal the same way a visually impaired person would – through scent, sound, touch and, most importantly, taste. Once blindfolded, you will be served an elegant meal prepared by the Omni Fort Worth’s Executive Chef, Mike Jackson. Please join us forthe most delicious meal you’ll never see! And when the blindfolds come off after dinner, we hope you will have a better appreciation of the gift of sight and will share in our passion for preserving it.

Your support of this event will ensure that our Fort Worth-based sight-saving programs grow and evolve so that we can continue to meet the changing needs of our community. Thank you for your support. We hope you’ll join us on March 25.

Watch this space for more information about sponsorship availability, coming very, very soon!
